The idea of such contest is to promote best management and medical practices, best managers and best teams for the encouragement of others. The event is also a spectacular occasion to meet the top healthcare managers and medical professionals thanks to their personal presence but also to publicity provided by the media. I congratulate our European partner and ally Romania for organizing the 2020 Healthcare Awards and I wish all nominees successful endeavors. Many thanks to the initiators and organizers of the event. Conf. Univ. Dr. Diana Loreta Păun

President and member of the International Jury Romanian Healthcare Awards 2021

“Romanian Healthcare Awards is an extraordinary opportunity to show our gratitude for doctors and medical teams whose activity is under the sign of professionalism, dedication and responsibility, and to reward hospitals with models of good practice, in which we can walk with confidence. The three categories of the 2020 edition – Doctor of the Year, Medical Team of the Year and Hospital of the Year come to crown the consistent effort made every day to maintain our health, giving us, the members of the jury, the opportunity to show our appreciation and give you the signs of our appreciation for the values promoted!”

Dr. Andreea Moldovan

Medical Director of the Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Brașov

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“The competition represents the impetus for improvement, for overcoming the current limits, for the better. Any fair competition creates the premises to take into account a momentary performance, analyzing where we are and where we could and especially should be. Also, a competition announces the moment of balance, evaluation and interpretation of performances. And, why not, to reward the efforts of those who lead to higher and better activity. Of those “locomotives” that pull after them the whole team, the hospital, the system.”

Prof. dr. Anca Dana Buzoianu

Rector of UMF Iuliu Hațieganu Cluj-Napoca

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2021 Jury

“The privilege of evaluating the professional activity of the best health professionals, even if this mission will not be easy, honors me. The time has finally come for health professionals to step on stage, to show everyone what they have accomplished and to motivate those at the beginning of the road to follow their example, to develop, to evolve and to give their best.”

Dr. Zdenka Čebašek-Travnik

President, the Medical Chamber from Slovenia

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“Although the medical profession is not about competition, I support choosing the best doctors. It is a convenient way to review successful medical procedures and to inform the general public. It is important to recognize selected doctors for their above-average work. Both, however, are of the greatest benefit to our patients. If the assessment takes place in an international context, it is important information for healthcare providers in their respected countries as well.”

Dr. Vasile Cepoi

President of the National Authority of Quality Management in Health

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“How do patients generally choose the hospital they want to be treated in? First of all, according to the doctor, the medical team and the quality of the services in the respective unit. So, all three categories from the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020.

Any competition that focuses on the quality of services in the medical system, on the medical team can be a win for both the system and the patients. The National Authority of Quality Management in Health, through its activity, wants to achieve its goal of ensuring and continuous improvement of the quality of health services and patient safety, by standardizing and evaluating health services and accrediting health units.”

Prof. Dr. Viorel Scripcariu

Rector of the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iasi

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2021 Jury

“At the end of an infernal guard or after a difficult operation, when you realize that you have chosen a one-way street, you also remember why you chose to follow one of the hardest but also noblest jobs in the world. Why did you choose to put the health of those around you above your own health and why do you often spend more time in the hospital than with your family. Because medicine is more than a profession, it is a vocation, it defines you not only as a professional, but also as a person, and because true doctors do not expect money or praise to do their duty.”

Prof. Dr. Cătălina Poiană

Vice-rector of the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy București

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2021 Jury

“Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 is a time when the medical society promotes its doctors, hospitals and medical teams who have shown involvement and professionalism in the current activity for and for the benefit of patients. I am honored to be part of the jury of this event, a jury of renowned personalities. This event must show us that Romania has valuable doctors and medical units where a quality medical act is practiced.”

Dr. Ferdinand Rudolf Waldenberger

Medical Director of Kepler University Hospital, Linz, Austria

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“Professionalism in medicine is a conversation about what it means to be a good doctor. It has been a major topic of discussion in the field for many years and will likely remain so for years to come. Physicians still debate how to define it, how to assess it and how to teach it. Younger doctors sometimes have different ideas on what it means to be a professional than older colleagues.

The last decades have brought new challenges to medicine like industrialization and a change in the doctor-patient-relationship.

In order to focus on the individual performance, to focus on role models, in order to stress the importance of teamwork and of living an ethical live as a medical doctor it is very important to honour those individuals who do outstanding jobs, who live in integrated teams and to facilitate organizational ethics in entire hospitals: If we create role models, they will act like watchtowers, and people will follow their light beams.

That is why we celebrate the Romanian Health Care Awards!”

Dr. José María Muñoz y Ramón

Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“The Romanian Hospital Convention that took place in Bucharest in September 2019 was an excellent opportunity to confirm the high dedication and excellent standars of Romanian healthcare providers. An impressive range of innovative ideas and projects was displayed, proving the dinamism and forward thinking of Romanian professionals within the European context. The Romanian Healthcare Awards will further promote and give visibility to many of the leaders and institutions that are making possible this shared success. The jury of these awards encourages clinicians and managers to participate in this exciting competition, as that will certainly estimulate the search for excellence in all contributing centres. The international scope of this project will add value and recognise the efforts and success of the healthcare care sector in the current challenging times. “

Liliana Curea

Journalist, Reporter and Producer of Health Show, PRO TV

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2021 Jury

“Such a competition is the ideal opportunity for doctors, those who work every day with passion, love for their peers and the desire to evolve professionally. Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 is the chance of any of them! I met young doctors who helped develop the health system without taking any credit. I saw, especially in this difficult period of pandemic, that only in the team can overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable.”

Violeta Astratinei

President and Founder of the Melanom Romania Association

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2021 Jury

“As a representative of patients affected by a cancer as aggressive as melanoma, I believe that a competition like the Romanian Healthcare Awards demonstrates that excellence and innovation in patient care can exist in Romania, often in places where we do not expect to find them. As such, it is worthwhile to promote these people to the open stage and to encourage others to follow their example. The Romanian Healthcare Awards thus create a wave of positivity that Romania needs!”

Hans Erik Henriksen

CEO Healthcare Denmark

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“Breakthrough innovation occur when hospitals, doctors and medical teams decide to address challenges and issues in new ways – often in cooperation with technology experts from companies or researchers from universities. However, it is not always about new technology. Implementing new ways of working, approaches and new cultures and values at hospitals are often initiatives, which can also make a hospital or a team famous, resulting in vast improvements in patient satisfaction, treatment quality and outcomes.

In times like this with a worldwide pandemic, it is more important than ever, that hospitals are determined to address new challenges and find new approaches to increase productivity and quality. The national competition to award the top hospitals, doctors and medical teams in Rumania is an excellent way to showcase new ideas and innovation. This will hopefully inspire all hospitals to learn from each other, and this way have a national impact on progressing Romanian Healthcare for the future.”

Dr. Valeriu Gheorghiță

Primary Doctor Infectious Diseases at the Central Military Emergency University Hospital „Dr. Carol Davila ”

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

The organization of the first edition of the Romanian Healthcare Awards, at such a difficult time, is a gesture of normalcy, solidarity, recognition and promotion of professional values in the field of health. It is time to thank the entire medical system, but especially those who have managed, through personal and team sacrifices, to perform, to generate models of good practice and, finally, to demonstrate that “man sanctifies the place”.

Paul Cryer

Independent Innovation-solutions Consultant to Healthcare Organisations and Governments

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“The notion of success almost always embraces some elements of benchmarking and other forms of feedback. While setting personal or organisational standards against which outcomes can be derived allows for system control it is essentially through the extent of tolerances around such measurements where effective and sustainable opportunities for improvement can be obtained. Systems that lead to formal ratings that are acknowledged by individuals or organisations as credible will provide the stimulus for understanding the need for change and as such they should therefore be both encouraged and deployed extensively. The Romanian Healthcare Awards provides a platform for individuals and organisations to benchmark against like-others whereby the stimulus for success leads to a derived learning opportunity that will inevitably drive improvement in one way or another.”

Dr. Adrian Udrea

Medical Director of the Medisprof Clinic Cluj Napoca

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2021 Jury

“The power of example has always been one of the reasons I built something in my clinic. Let’s get out of anonymity and show everyone how passionate and professional we are at what we do.”

Ramona Marincaș

Director of Care of the Zalău Emergency Hospital

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“Romanian Healthcare Awards offers the chance for the medical staff to present their achievements, both personal and of the medical team or the hospital they belong to. Sometimes we are so caught up in the hustle and bustle that we forget to celebrate the achievements we have made, but celebrating success is important because it motivates and encourages us to continue our future projects. The Romanian medical system needs positive examples to follow, and the Romanian Healthcare Awards offer the chance for public recognition for the best medical professionals. Extraordinary work in the service of the patient needs gratitude, and this award also means a “THANK YOU” for dedication, involvement, positive influence, innovative practices, but also for the compassion with which patient care is offered.”

Lodewijk de Beukelaar

CEO Groene Hart Hospital, Gouda

Member of the Romanian Healthcare Awards 2020 Jury

“I strongly support this competition that ROHO organizes. It is important to learn each others initiatives to improve and the way we manage as well as possible our hospitals. This stimulates each manager or doctor to perform better and to share this new plans, methods etcetera. I am very curious what kind of contributions to expect in this Healthcare Awards 2020! It should be difficult for the jury choose that gives the best results, eventually for the Romanian hospital care!”

Cristian Hotoboc

“Romanian Healthcare Awards is an opportunity to express our appreciation and to thank the doctors and teams who dedicate all their skill and dedication to the well-being of the patient. Fermier Invitat

Dr. Cristian Radu Jecan

Director Medical, Spitalul „Prof. Dr. Agrippa Ionescu”, București

Medic Invitat ROHO

Manager, Spitalul Municipal Carei, Satu Mare

Manager Invitat ROHO

Am apreciat alegerea atentă a speakerilor.

First and foremost, I want to thank you for your invitation and to congratulate you on the organization of the Forum, which was very well structured, both in terms of the guests, as well as of the topics addressed. It was a day full of – we hope – useful information; when the breaks allowed it, we made the most of the networking part to become acquainted with other Romanian colleagues and to talk about the problems in our farms and what could be improved.

FORO Guest

The quality of the services must be continuously improved, and this is done through regular trainings and last-minute information shared with the relevant departments. Maintenance of hotel spaces is also a priority, as good hotel services cannot compensate for unattended space and vice versa. A mix between the two components is ideal and leads to the success of the customer relationship. A hotel’s reputation is its business card. In the online environment, the grades given by the guests are the mirror of the activity of the hotel, and they can be improved by good management and communication with the client.

Bogdan Arsene

General Manager, Best Western Stil Hotel 4*, Bucharest

FORO Guest

The policy of the Best Western Stil hotel has a very important component of customer service. We care about our guests and are very attentive to the feedback they send us through various forms (directly at the hotel reception, in direct meetings with our staff, through the hotel feedback forms, through the pages of TripAdvisor, Booking, Facebook etc.). Feedback from our guests helps us to maintain the level of services and facilities we offer to a certain standard and to make improvements. In the last 2 years we have made significant investments in this regard.

Executive Chef, Pullman Bucharest World Trade Center

FORO Guest

A restaurant is itself a complex investment. One of the current problems in this field is the quality of services, which is why it is imperative to invest in this direction. A restaurant can remain “top” only by maintaining quality – that is why this concept must be understood in detail. Competition is growing in all sectors and the best way to distinguish yourself from others is the reputation you build. The decision to use reputation as a career building tool differs from one sector to another and depends on the professional objective. However, being a professional with visibility becomes an increasingly necessary means of career development.
