Nurten Akkuş
Chosen as “Teacher of the Year in Turkey” by public vote in 2015 and 2016
Top 10 Finalists, Global Teacher Prize 2018, Turkey. To remedy the low level of family participation in children’s education, Nurten Akkuș pioneered the project, “Daddy, Tell Me A Story”. This led to fathers’ participation in education, both in her county and Turkey as a whole. She has also run projects with UNICEF and the Turkish Ministry of National Education.

Marie-Christine Ghanbari Jahromi
Top 10 Finalists, Global Teacher Prize 2017, Germany. The Sportpaten project which was founded by Marie-Christine, in 2012, has as a central goal to support children with disadvantaged development conditions through a sportpate, like a mentor, with physical activities in their motor, social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills – giving all children equal opportunities.

Ecological Children Activity and Education Center
📍 THAILAND
The Children Activity and Learning Centre, which will provide visiting children a wide range of entertaining activities as well as raise the level of ecological awareness with them. This Den provides an Auditorium/Cinema for films, lectures and plays, a library with books on permaculture and local traditions, an Art room, a Music room and Fashion room.

Westborough Primary School

The development involved a major refurbishment of the school’s main Edwardian school buildings and adding a covered walkway, vastly improving circulation and the overall school environment. The project reduced carbon emissions by 90% in the school’s renovated areas, introducing a series of subtle changes that could be easily applied to a large number of existing schools.

Northeast Amager School

Being more than a school, the NORD Architects proposal provides new public spaces and social potentials for the whole area of North-East Amager. Nature is weaved together with the building, as the green environments expand onto the many outdoor terraces and the active floor of the city continues underneath. A school not only embedded with material sustainability, but educational and social too.

Streatham and Clapham High School

The first phase provides a new sixth form centre within a rooftop extension which sits over the main body of the existing school. This contains book-ended common and study spaces, connected by a spine of classrooms, offices, a science laboratory and service spaces.

Broadway School
📍 UK
Broadway School is the first sample school refurbishment completed as part of the Birmingham Building Schools for the Future programme. Working closely with the consortium team and the building’s users, the design transformed the school’s facilities within a sustainable environment, drastically upgrading selected existing buildings and rebuilding large areas of the site.

VMBO Herbert Vissers College

In VMBO education, students are prepared for their later work by having them experience the practice in the school. In a sharpened emerald, the surroundings are mirrored, as it were, and the emerald itself sparkles the light from the inside to the outside. For the school administration, that was the metaphor for preparatory vocational education.
